Vinod Khanna passes away

Vinod Khanna, the original heartthrob of Hindi films, died Thursday morning. He was battling bladder cancer for years. The actor was 70.

Sources close to his family said that the funeral of the veteran actor will take place at 4.30pm today at Mumbai’s Bangana crematorium. His friends and colleagues from the film industry, political fraternity and celeb circuit have started reaching his home in Mumbai to pay their last respects. Police also arrived at his house to make security arrangements as the actor’s body will soon be brought home.

In April first week, his condition had considerably deteriorated due to dehydration. He remained admitted at HN Reliance Hospital for close to a month. Hospital authorities claimed his condition had become stable in between after doctors put him on drip although he had become frail during hospitalisation. He was brought to the Girgaum based hospital in March end. A picture that leaked from the hospital, showing a weak-looking actor left his fans shocked.

The hospital released this statement after the actor’s death, “Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Mr. Vinod Khanna, who was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma.”

In his long Bollywood career, he worked in more than 100 films, and was an active politician, and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Punjab. Vinod is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, sons Rahul, Akshaye and Sakshi, and daughter Shraddha Khanna. Before marrying Kavita, Vinod Khanna was married to Getanjali but they later got divorced.

Vinod was one of the most sought out films stars in the 1970s and 1980s. Initially he was offered only negative and small roles, but in no time, he started bagging lead roles in many films. He had made his film debut in 1968 with Mann Ka Meet, and later on he went on to becoming a star and his performance in films like Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Imtihaan, Inkaar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Lahu ke Do Rang, Qurbani, Dayavaan and Jurm were truly appreciated.

Vinod Khanna received the Filmfare award in the best supporting actor category for Haath Ki Safaai, and in 1999 he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and again in 2007 he won a lifetime achievement award at the Zee Cine Awards.

After such an impressive career, in 1982 he took a break from work to join his guru Osho Rajneesh at his ashram. He gave up films altogether in that period. After a five-year break from work, he started signing films again and gave two superhits, Insaaf and Satyamev Jayate.

Even with a busy career in politics, Vinod did not give up on Bollywood and worked in some of the latest films like Dabangg, Players, Dabangg 2 and Dilwale, and received a lot of love for his work. In late 2016 and early 2017, news about his detoriating health started coming in, this kept him away from a public eye. In his last days he was surrounded by all his children and wife Kavita.

Baahubali 2 reportedly grossed Rs 300 crore at the box office and is inching close to Rs 400 crore.

India's most awaited film Baahubali: The Conclusion is finally in theaters and has opened to a phenomenal response from fans. The film, which released on Friday, has been shattering box-office records with its collection. As per trade figures, Baahubali 2 has netted a whopping Rs 121 crore in India alone on its opening day.

Since its release, several celebrities including Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Dhanush, Allu Sirish, filmmakers Shekhar Kapur and Mahesh Bhatt have lauded Rajamouli's unimaginable vision to make something like Baahubali possible.

Now, Thalaivar Rajinikanth, who's the demigod for the masses, took to Twitter to appreciate Rajamouli and his team.
Calling Rajamouli as God's own child, Rajinikanth said, "Baahubali 2 ... Indian cinema's pride. My salutes to God's own child @ssrajamouli and his team!!! #masterpiece."

Earlier today, Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi also lavished praise on Rajamouli and the entire team. On Saturday, Baahubali 2 reportedly grossed Rs 300 crore at the box office and is inching close to Rs 400 crore.

It must be noted that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's PK is so far the highest grossing Indian film of all time and collected Rs 792 crore worldwide. However, considering the unprecedented craze it had among on the audience, Baahubali 2 is expected to rake in Rs 1000 crore at the box office.

Baahubali: The Beginning ended with Kattappa revealing himself as the killer of Amarendra Baahubali. And The Conclusion takes the story forward from where its predecessor ended.

Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan star in pivotal roles in this installment of Baahubali too.

Reliance to roll out its FTTH service 'Jio Fiber' with minimum 100 Mbps speed

After successfully triggering tariff war for mobile internet, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio is now planning to launch high-speed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service.
FTTH is a broadband network architecture using optical fiber to provide all or part of the local loop used for last mile telecommunications.
The service is called Jio Fiber and it will be rolled out as a Preview in the coming weeks. According to the reports, Jio has already started trials in various cities and is ready for commercial launch.
Jio Fiber broadband plans will start from 100 Mbps speed. Reliance Jio's upcoming FTTH service is not just about speed and tariff, it has several other features to offer.
Reports suggest that it will have a smart calling feature that will virtually connect the cell phones to  landline. That means if a person receives a call on the landlines it can be received on cell phone.

While the news about the launch is doing rounds, no official confirmation has yet been made. India Today analysed how Jio's entry into the fiber broadband is likely to help users.
It said: "Although India is now home to a large number internet users, majority of them connect to the web using wireless connections like 2G, 3G, and 4G that are neither as fast as a good broadband nor as reliable. However, the neglect of the broadband sector has resulted in a situation where the wireless networks are clogged and even the wired services are poor, with users getting low speeds."
Earlier in January, Airtel announced the launch of V-Fiber that offers consumers in select cities and areas speeds of up to 100mbps using the ADSL2 technology.
This is the second time when Mukesh Ambani is experimenting in the telecom industry after successfully launching Jio that disrupted the whole telecommunication market with its aggressive tariff plans.

It has given tough competition to incumbent players like telecom major Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: What's the difference?

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were announced at the end of March, bringing two new fabulous flagships to the smartphone party. How do they compare to their competition though?
We've put them up against the LG G6, the Pixels and the iPhone 7 in previous features but here we are looking at how the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus compare to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Design
•All offer premium, beautiful designs
•All waterproof to some degree
•iPhone 7 Plus slimmer, but heavier and wider than both S8 and S8 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus share the same beautiful design with an almost all-screen front, very slim bezels, a solid, premium metal build and a glass rear. Unlike previous Samsung devices, the home button is built into the display rather than a physical button beneath the display and the fingerprint sensor has been repositioned to the rear of both devices, next to the camera lens.
The S8 measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm and weighs 155g, while the S8 Plus is the slightly larger and heavier of the two at 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm and 173g. Both are IP68 dust and water resistant and they both feature lovely curved edges and a dedicated button on their left for launching the Bixby personal assistant.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus also features a lovely design, though a little safer and more traditional than Samsung's two latest. Apple opts for an all-aluminium slim build with curved edges, rounded corners and a the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Home button on the front, beneath the display. There is a dual-rear camera setup on the rear in the top left corner, making for a little more subtlety than the S8 and S8 Plus array.
Offering a water and dust resistant rating of IP67, the iPhone 7 Plus measures 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm and weighs 188g. This means it is slimmer than both Samsung models, but it is also quite a bit wider and heavier than both and only slightly shorter in body than the S8 Plus, despite the Samsung models both offering larger displays.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Display
•S8 Plus has largest display, iPhone 7 Plus has smallest
•S8 has sharpest display in terms of pixel density at 570ppi
•S8 and S8 Plus have Mobile HDR, iPhone 7 Plus has 3D Touch

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display, while the Galaxy S8 Plus has a slightly larger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display, meaning both have a dual-edged screen that pumps out rich and vibrant colours. Both take on a 18.5:9 ratio compared to the standard 16:9, allowing them gain the extra inches diagonally without needing the width, hence why they are narrower than the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of measurements.
The S8 and S8 Plus both opt for a Quad HD+ resolution, which translates to 2960 x 1440 pixels for pixel densities of 570ppi and 529ppi respectively, resulting in super sharp and crisp detail. Samsung also adds Mobile HDR Premium to the S8 and S8 Plus, meaning the two new flagships are compatible for viewing HDR content from the likes of Netflix and Amazon Video.
Meanwhile, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5-inch Retina HD display, which means an LED-backlit IPS LCD screen with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The lower resolution means the iPhone 7 Plus has a lower pixel density at 401ppi, though we have never had any complaints with the iPhone's display during our experience with it so it isn't always about the numbers.
It is a flat display, though it has 2.5D glass covering it meaning the display joins to the edges of the iPhone's build seamlessly. The iPhone 7 Plus also has 3D Touch, which is Apple's version of a pressure-sensitive display, allowing for extra features and functions based on the force with which you press. There is no Mobile HDR though and no Always-On display for any notifications at a glance without turning the full display on, something the S8 and S8 Plus do both offer.
Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Camera
•Dual-camera setup on the iPhone 7 Plus with optical zoom
•Wider aperture on S8 and S8 Plus for both cameras
•Higher resolution front camera on S8 and S8 Plus

When it comes to smartphone cameras, the number of megapixels doesn't directly translate to how good the results are so that's always worth bearing in mind if you're buying a new device with the camera as your top priority. A lot comes down to processing and both Samsung and Apple smash it out of the park, delivering excellent image results across their latest handsets.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus therefore have high expectations on their heads, though we would expect them to be met. There is a 12-megapixel Duo Pixel sensor on the rear of both devices, with an f/1.7 aperture, phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilisation. The S8 and S8 Plus offer up to eight times digital zoom.
On the front, you'll find an 8-megapixel sensor, also with an f/1.7 aperture, along with autofocus over fixed focus and iris scanning capabilities.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus has already proved it can deliver in terms of camera, featuring two 12-megapixel sensors on the back, one wide-angle with a f/1.8 aperture and the other telephoto with an aperture of f/2.8. It too offers optical image stabilisation and it can provide two times optical zoom and up to 10 times digital. In terms of the front, there is a 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a Retina Flash but no iris scanner.
The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and the iPhone 7 Plus are all capable of up to 4K video recording from their rear cameras, and up to 1080p from their front-facing snappers.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Hardware
•Powerful hardware on both, more RAM on S8 and S8 Plus
•iPhone 7 Plus and S8 Plus promise similar battery performance
•microSD and 3.5mm headphone jack on S8 and S8 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus both come with the Exynos 8895 chip or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, depending on region, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is microSD support for storage expansion up to 256GB. The S8 has a battery capacity of 3000mAh, while the S8 Plus has a capacity of 3500mAh, both of which are charged via USB Type-C and both of which support fast charging and wireless charging.
According to Samsung, the S8 will offer up to 20 hours talk time or 14 hours Wi-Fi browsing, while the S8 Plus will offer up to 24 hours talk time or up to 15 hours Wi-Fi browsing. You'll also find a 3.5mm headphone jack on the S8 and S8 Plus, allowing the AKG in-ear headphones bundled in the boxes to be plugged straight in.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus runs on the A10 chip, with an embedded M10 motion compressor. There is 3GB of RAM and a choice of 32GB, 128GB or 256GB storage, none of which offer microSD for storage expansion. Apple claims the iPhone 7 Plus will offer up to 21 hours talk time or up to 15 hours Wi-Fi browsing, putting it in line with the S8 Plus.
Charging takes place via Lightning, as does everything else including headphone connection as there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple does however provide a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack adapter in the box so you'll still be able to use your old headphones as long as you don't lose the tiny adapter.
Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Software
•S8 and S8 Plus run on Android with TouchWiz
•iPhone 7 Plus runs on iOS with quicker updates
•Both have personal assistants

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus run on Android Nougat with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface over the top, while the Apple iPhone 7 Plus runs on iOS 10. Different platforms and different experiences, but both are excellent.
Many of the same features are offered across both platforms, but things are packaged in a slightly different way, such as access to settings. Apple is better at updating devices with its latest software builds almost as soon as they are released, while Samsung users tend to wait a little longer following a new Android build so that's worth bearing in mind if you like the latest features quickly.
Which you will prefer will come down to personal preference, as well as whether you have other Apple devices or you use Google services, but as we said, both platforms are great. You can read our iOS 10 tips and tricks and our S7 tips and tricks to get a better idea of what both platforms will allow you to do.
In terms of personal assistants, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will eventually come with Bixby, Samsung's new AI system, and Google Assistant, while Apple has the famous Siri.
Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Price
•S8 and S8 Plus come in five colours, iPhone 7 Plus in six
•iPhone 7 Plus starting price cheaper but less storage in base model

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus costs £779 and it will be available in five colours, though not all will come to each country. The colours comprise Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, Coral Blue, Arctic Silver and Maple Gold.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus starts at £719, increasing to £919 for the highest storage capacity. It is available in six colours including Jet Black, Black, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold and the special edition (PRODUCT) Red. The Jet Black and (PRODUCT) Red colours only come in 128GB or 256GB storage options though, meaning they start from £819.
Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Which should you choose?
The million dollar question: Do you pick Samsung or do you go with Apple? Ultimately the answer will come down to which design you prefer and which platform suits you better.
The Samsung devices are all about their displays, offering big screens in a relatively small body, while the iPhone 7 Plus is a slightly bigger device overall, but the front has more than just a screen and even if this doesn't follow the latest trend, its design will be preferable to some.
All three devices aren't likely to disappoint though, no matter which you choose. They all offer, or have the potential to offer in Samsung's case, good performance, great cameras, lovely designs and excellent hardware. We were big fans of the iPhone 7 Plus and while we have yet to review the S8 and S8 Plus, we are expecting great things based on our first impressions.

Want a bite of Android Nougat? These phones run the latest Android.

The adoption of new versions of Android OS by phone makers has always been a slow process. Integrating custom UIs on any new OS is a time taking process and the main reason for the delay of rolling out updates for phones. According to Google’s own numbers, Android 7.0 and 7.1 account for only 4.9% of all Android devices as on 3 April 2017. Android Nougat was launched in October 2016, with Google’s own Pixel and Nexus phones getting it first, with new features such as side-by-side multi-tasking, better battery management and improved notifications. Musha Cay the Islands of Copperfield Bay Bahamas

The iPhone 8 may be very hard to get until 2018

There are almost always reports ahead of every iPhone launch saying that Apple is going to have limited supplies of its new phone, but the situation this year seems to be quite a bit different. Apple typically starts mass production of new iPhones several months before they’re announced and still faces supply constraints. If Apple isn’t beginning mass production on the iPhone 8 until October or November, they’ll almost certainly be hard to come by until early 2018.

A longer wait for a truly new iPhone design

Kuo’s assessment adds to the mounting evidence of a delayed — or, at least, severely supply constrained — iPhone 8. Just last week, Bloomberg reported that the iPhone 8 could be delayed by “one or two months,” and Mac Otakara is also expecting a delayed launch.

The general consensus is that the iPhone 8 will feature a new design with an OLED display and a nearly bezel-free look. That means the phone will do away with the iPhone’s iconic home button. Apple is also rumored to be adding wireless charging and a front-facing camera with Kinect-like abilities to track motion in 3D.

More and more images purporting to be leaked iPhone 8 parts and schematics have been coming out over the past few weeks to back all of this up. The origins of these photos are basically unknown, which means there’s very, very good reason to be suspicious of them, but they at least offer an idea of what we’re expecting to see this fall.

One supposed model that was posted yesterday resembles the original iPhone:

Another purported schematic showed the same vertical camera setup, but flat sides and a rear fingerprint sensor.

iPhone 8 looks to be taking a new direction pic.twitter.com/mG19bcDYiC
— Sonny Dickson (@SonnyDickson) April 19, 2017
It’s entirely possible that these are both somewhat legitimate, as Apple probably hasn’t finalized the iPhone 8’s design at this point and may be trying to determine what’s possible. The fingerprint sensor’s absence on one of the models may be telling: Apple is supposedly trying to build a fingerprint sensor beneath the phone’s display, but if it can’t, it may have to move the sensor around back like Android phones have done for a couple years.

There doesn’t appear to be any one aspect of the phone responsible for the predicted delay. Instead, Kuo reportedly says it’s a matter of Apple ordering several key, custom components that it’s going to take manufacturers a while to get up to speed on.

Despite the apparent delay, Apple is still expected to announce the iPhone 8 in September, when it usually announces new phones. That’s because Apple is reportedly planning to introduce an iPhone 7S at the same time. The 7S is expected to retain the design of the iPhone 7, but — like other S generations — bump the phone’s specs in a handful of different ways to set it apart.

That phone is expected to launch on time

Mumbai: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, the telecom arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), on Monday reported a net loss of Rs 22.5 crore for the six months ended 31 March, the company said in a statement to BSE. Jio had posted a loss of Rs 7.46 crore in the year-ago period.

Jio’s total income dropped to Rs 54 lakh against Rs 2.25 crore for the six-month period.

It recently announced that 72 million subscribers had signed up for the company’s Jio Prime service in a start to monetisation of the telecom business.

Jio had on 11 April launched a new plan—Dhan Dhana Dhan—that offers its Prime members 1GB data per day at 4G speeds for 84 days for Rs 309. The company launched this offer after it was asked to withdraw its Summer Surprise offer by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Credit Suisse, in a report dated 21 April said, “Given the strength of RIL’s balance sheet, RIL’s ability to fund losses is also higher than that of peers. Jio’s primary target is likely raising revenue market share as aggressively as possible. We highlight every 1% incremental market share (by FY25) could be worth $1.4 billion in net present value (higher eventual free cash flows) to a large telecom operator.”

From Airtel To Vodafone To BSNL, Operators Launch New Plans To Take On Jio

With tariff war intensifying in Indian telecom sector after Reliance Jio's low cost data plans under its Summer Surprise and Dhan Dhana Dhan offers, prices of mobile data from other incumbent telecom players like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and BSNL have fallen by nearly 60 per cent. According to domestic research house Crisil, the telecom player which will be able to retain maximum average revenue per user (ARPU) will win the ongoing tariff war and be able to sustain. In a bid to retain existing customers, incumbent telecom players like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and BSNL are pricing their plans in such a way that they retain maximum of their existing subscribers and also maintain their ARPU. Flipkart recently raised $1.4 billion in its biggest fundraising to date as it took on US tech giant Amazon.com Inc for a larger share of the country's burgeoning online retail market.

Chinese social media and entertainment firm Tencent Holdings Ltd, the world's biggest software company Microsoft Corp and online marketplace eBay Inc participated in the funding round, which will value the Indian company at $11.6 billion, Flipkart said in a statement earlier this month.

That was lower than the $15 billion valuation achieved at its last fundraising in 2015, reflecting how competition has intensified in the e-commerce sector as companies vie for a slice of the world's fastest-growing internet services market.

As part of the fundraising, eBay invested $500 million in Flipkart for a stake, according to a separate statement by both companies. In exchange, eBay will merge its India operations with Flipkart.

Prior to the latest round, Flipkart had raised more than $3 billion in funding via 10 rounds, mostly from international investors but it has burnt through cash in a competitive market.

In terms of camera, the device features a dual camera setup with both modules housing a 13 megapixel sensor. One lens comes with a 125degree wide angle and the other with a 71 degree regular angle lens. For the front facing snapper, LG has used a 5 megapixel 100 degree wide-angle lens.

Happy birthday to 'India', from India: PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes' daughter, named 'India', on her second birthday.

Rhodes, who is part of IPL side Mumbai Indians' support staff, posted a picture of himself with his daughter, who turned two today.

38 Indians Detained In United Kingdom For Visa Breach In Factory Raids

Britain's immigration officials have detained 38 Indians, including nine women, for overstaying their visas or working illegally after conducting raids in two clothing factories in the city of Leicester.

The UK Home Office Immigration Enforcement team raided MK Clothing Ltd and Fashion Times UK Ltd in the city in the East Midlands region of England last week and held 38 Indians and one Afghan man.

Of those detained, 31 had outstayed their visas, seven had entered the country illegally and one was working in breach of their visa conditions, Leicester Mercury reported. The officials took 19 people into detention pending their removal from the UK while remaining 20 were ordered to report regularly to the Home Office while their cases are dealt with. "Using illegal labour is not victimless. It cheats the taxpayer, undercuts honest businesses and denies legitimate job seekers of employment opportunities," said assistant director Alison Spowage, from East Midlands Immigration Enforcement.

"The penalties for businesses that do not play by the rules are rightly severe. This operation, one of the largest- scale my team has conducted, sends a clear message that we have the resources to tackle immigration abuse. All of our operations are intelligence-led and I would encourage people with detailed and specific information about illegal immigration to contact us," she said.

Immigration officials were accompanied by Leicestershire Police and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) officers during the raids.

The two firms could face fines of up to 20,000 pounds for each illegal worker if it is proven they did not take steps to establish their employees' legal status. This translates up to 240,000 pounds for MK Clothing Ltd and 180,000 pounds for Fashion Times UK Ltd. The two factories are yet to comment on the raids.

Under UK immigration rules, employers are required to carry out details right to work checks on the employees they hire and are liable for hefty fines if they are found to have hired workers who do not have the legal right to work in Britain.

How is Father and Daughter relationship between Donald Trump and Ivanka Trumps?

Ivanka transferred to her father's alma mater for college.
Though she started out at Georgetown University in D.C., Ivanka transferred to the University of Pennsylvania's famed Wharton School to study business after her sophomore year (she graduated in 2004). Donald graduated from Wharton in 1968.

Ivanka named her first son after Donald's dad.
Ivanka and her husband Jared named their first son Joseph Frederick, after both of their paternal grandfathers. "Both men set the standards that have been passed down through the generations and which we hope to impart upon Joseph and Arabella," Ivanka wrote with her birth announcement on social media. "They created a legacy for our family that inspires our careers as well as our love and respect for one another. We are honored to name our son after these two distinguished men. We feel so blessed with the newest member of the family!"

They both love to golf.
Donald owns courses all around the world and has spent much of his presidential downtime thus far on the green. His daughter is no slouch either: she once proudly demonstrated her ability to putt in heels.

Donald would halt meetings if she called as a kid.
Ivanka has shared that Donald would always have his assistants and secretaries patch her through when she called him at work, at which time he would pause his meetings, put her on speaker phone, and then ask her to share her grades and other recent achievements with his colleagues.

Still, Donald says he refused to prioritize his children over his work.
"The hardest thing for me about raising kids has been finding the time," Donald has said. "I know friends who leave their business so they can spend more time with their children, and I say, 'Gimme a break!'"

Ivanka shares some of her father's mannerisms and style of speaking.
At least, she thinks so. "I'm slowly morphing into him," Ivanka joked when David Letterman observed the similarities in their voices when she appeared on his show in 2007.

Ivanka believes her parents' divorce bonded her with her father.

Donald and his first wife Ivana had an explosive divorce in the early '90s due to his affair with Marla Maples, whom he later married. "Bizarrely, it also made us closer to Dad," Ivanka said in 2004. "Every morning before school, we'd go downstairs and give him a hug and a kiss. We didn't take his presence for granted anymore."

Donald raised Ivanka to be very competitive.
"We were sort of bred to be competitive," Ivanka has said. "Dad encourages it. I remember skiing with him and we were racing. I was ahead, and he reached his ski pole out and pulled me back."

Donald has been open about his finances with Ivanka since she was a child.
In an oft-quoted interview for the documentary Born Rich, Ivanka recalled how her father Donald once pointed to a homeless man while they were walking down Fifth Avenue of Manhattan. "I remember my father pointing to him and saying, 'You know, that guy has $8 billion more than me,' because he was in such extreme debt," she said. She was 8 or 9 at the time.

Donald was very strict about drinking or partying when Ivanka was younger.
"I've never been interested in being a wild party girl, an It girl. My dad is very strict," Ivanka has said. "My dad feels very adamantly about no drugs, no drinking, no smoking, because his brother died of alcoholism, which is a horrible, horrible thing."

Donald wasn't the snuggliest dad.

"He's not the kind of father who would 'Choo-choo, goo-goo, noo-noo,'" his ex Ivana has said. "He would love [his kids], he would kiss them and hold them, but then he would give [them] to me because he had no idea what to do."

Donald hates when Ivanka vacations anywhere other than Mar-a-Lago.
His children joked in a 2004 interview that he gets territorial about resorts that aren't Trump-branded. "I just came back from Hawaii two weeks ago and that was exactly his reaction," Ivanka said. "'Why don't you just go to Palm Beach? We have Mar-a-Lago!'"

Ivanka thinks she inherited the real-estate gene from her father
She toured construction sites with him as a child, learning "this love of building, of tangible things, of the beauty of creating something on a larger scale," as she put it. "Creating something that is lasting and impactful excites me."

Ivanka says both she and her father are feminists.
"He 100 percent believes in equality of gender, so, yes, absolutely — socially, politically, and economically," Ivanka said in 2016 regarding whether she would label her dad with the f-word.

Donald gave a pretty bad speech at Ivanka's wedding.
An attendee at the Kushner-Trump nuptials in 2009 told Esquire that Donald "gave the most pathetic, lame, embarrassing speech I've heard in a long time."

Donald has said he would absolutely fire Ivanka
.
Yes, their relationship is warm and fuzzy, but he's still a businessman. "Not only would I fire them, but I would fire them like a dog," Donald once said in an interview, prompting Ivanka to call him and say, "I'm not shocked, but did you have to say like a dog? I don't even know what that means!"

Inside Melania Trump's Love Life

The first family of the United States isn’t exactly "conventional" by any means. President Donald Trump had zero political experience upon taking office while his wife, Melania Trump (the first immigrant to become first lady since Louisa Quincy Adams in 1825) refused to live with him in Washington, D.C., instead living out the first 100 days of the trump administration from her $100 million penthouse in New York City’s Trump Towers.

Even the couple's first encounter in 1998 was far from normal, though it may very well have been love at first sight. An article AOL published Monday explored the Trumps’ love life, detailing the president’s initial reaction to the sight of Melania Trump, as well as the controversial steps he took to ditch his then-girlfriend and make the elegant, young model his wife.

Trump – a divorcee who was playing the dating field after separating from his first wife Ivana Trump in 1990 and leaving his second wife Marla Maples in 1993 – met Melania Knauss at a New York City Fashion Week party when she was just 28-years-old. Trump was 52-years-old.

The future president was attending the function with his former girlfriend, Celina Midelfart, whom he had been dating for several months, but reportedly ditched her in a public bathroom to instead spend his time with another woman.
"I went crazy," Trump said of his reaction to Melania Trump in an interview with Larry King in 2005. "I said, forget about [Midelfart]. I said, ‘who’s the one on the left?’ And it was Melania."

Melania Trump has said she refused to give out her number to the real estate mogul at the time, saying in a Harper's Bazaar interview last year, "he was with a date, so of course I didn't give it to him."

"I said, 'I am not giving you my number; you give me yours, and I will call you,’” Melania Trump said. “I was struck by his energy," she said. "He has an amazing sense of vitality… I remember that night like it was two months ago.”

The Trumps eventually began a rocky relationship following their initial encounter, repeatedly breaking up and living along until marrying Jan. 22, 2005. According to the first lady, her relationship with Trump has been mostly smooth sailing ever since.

"We are very equal in the relationship and that's very important," Melania Trump told Larry King in their first television joint-interview as newlyweds. "To marry a man like Donald is, you need to know who you are. And you need to be very strong and smart. He needs to know that he could rely on me sometimes. We share a lot of stuff together."

Apple iPhone 8 may have fingerprint reader at back.

San Francisco: A new diagram of iPhone 8 suggests that Apple may move the fingerprint reader to the back of the phone and the camera modules also appear to have changed.

"Apart from relocating the fingerprint reader, Apple may also add a dual-camera module that sits vertically on the back of the phone," CNBC.com reported on Thursday.

The change in camera modules might add some sort of augmented reality (AR) function.

Apple's next generation iPhone 8 is rumoured to sport a bold new design and would feature an OLED display full of holes.

"The patent filed by Apple for 'Electronic devices having displays with openings' describes a method by which various components can be mounted behind perforations in a device screen that are so small as to be imperceptible to the human eye. This arrangement would allow engineers to design a smartphone or tablet with a true edge-to-edge, or full-face display," appleinsider.com reported earlier this year.

The company will also bring "True Color iPad Pro" screen technology to its smartphones for the first time that uses advanced four-channel ambient light sensors to automatically adapt the colour and intensity of the display to match the light in your environment.

The full spectral sensing ambient light sensor will be added across the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and iPhone 8.

BSNL launches new plans with up to 3GB per day data.

New Delhi: State-run BSNL has announced new plans in the price range of Rs 333 to Rs 395, offering daily data usage limit of up to 3 GB, unlimited calling and 90 day validity.

BSNL's new plan, Triple Ace, for mobile customers priced at Rs 333 will offer unlimited data with 3G speed up to 3GB per day and remain valid for 90 days, said a statement issued by the company.

The company launched 'Dil Khol Ke Bol' plan for Rs 349 in which its customers will get unlimited local and STD calls and 2GB data with 3G speed every day after which the speed will get reduced to 80 kilobit per second.

In the third plan, 'Nehle pe Dehla', BSNL is offering 3,000 minutes of calls on BSNL network and 1,800 minutes of calling on other network along with 2GB daily data at 3G speed for Rs 395. The plan has validity of 71 days.

To increase pressure on competitors, BSNL revised daily data usage limit in its Rs 339 plan to 3GB from 2GB offered earlier. Once an user exhausts Rs 3GB of data, the speed will get reduced to 80 kbps.

Making investment declarations? New income tax rules you should know- Tax Rules 2017-2018

It is that time of the year when many of you would be giving your investment declarations for the year to your employer. Based on the investment declaration given by the employee in the beginning of the financial year, the employer deducts tax from the salary every month. So, before making the investment declaration it will be good to know the new tax rules applicable from the current financial year 2017-18.

1) The tax rate for income slab of Rs 2.5 lakh - Rs 5 lakh has been reduced from 10 per cent to five per cent. This reduction in tax rate will result in a tax benefit of Rs 12,500 for taxpayers. If you add education cess (2 per cent), and higher and secondary education cess (1 per cent) to it, the tax saving will increase to Rs 12,875.

2) The tax rebate enjoyed by the taxpayers under Section 87A has been reduced from Rs 5,000 to Rs 2,500. Earlier, it was available to those with a taxable income of Rs. 5 lakh, whereas now the limit has been reduced to Rs 3.5 lakh.

3) In case of let out property, the set-off of 'loss from house property' from other income streams has been limited to Rs 2 lakh in a financial year. There was no cap on it earlier . So, if there was a loss from house property as the entire interest of home loan for a let out property was tax deductible, you could set off the entire loss against any other source of income hence reducing the tax burden substantially. But now, you can set off losses only up to Rs 2 lakh while can carry forward the loss for next eight years. But as in the initial years the interest cost is high, the tax savings will reduce substantially due to the Rs 2 lakh cap.

4) In another move to encourage people to save more for their retirement, partial withdrawals from National Pension System (NPS) - up to 25 per cent of the contribution made by the employee - have been made tax-free. Moreover, self-employed individuals will now be eligible to claim deduction of up to 20 per cent of their gross total income, as against the existing 10 per cent, in respect of contribution made to NPS. This would be subject to the overall deduction limit of Rs 1.5 lakh.

5) The tax break on Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme available to first time equity investor will not be available from this year.

6) Any taxpayer who is eligible to file tax return will face higher penalty in case he or she delays the filing of income tax return after the due date - July 31 of the assessment year is generally the last date. A tax penalty of Rs 5,000 will be levied if returns are filed after this date, and Rs 10,000, if filed after December 31 of the assessment year. However, for small taxpayers with income not exceeding Rs 5 lakh for a financial year, the penalty will be Rs 1,000 for delay in filing tax return. Earlier a taxpayer could file return till the end of the assessment year, and was penalised with a fine of Rs 5,000 at the discretion of the tax officer in case of delay.

7) The time period for revising a tax return has been reduced to 12 months from completion of the financial year. The time frame for scrutiny assessments has been reduced from 21 months to 18 months for the next financial year, and is slated to be reduced further to 12 months from 2018-19.

8) The holding period for computation of long term gains in case of property has been reduced to two years, from the existing period of three years.

9) The base year for indexation has been shifted from 1-4-1981 to 1-4-2001. Indexation means adjusting the impact of inflation during the holding period of the capital asset so that it reflects the current market prices. The shift in base year will result in less tax liability for the buyer.

10) It will be now be mandatory for those claiming a House Rent Allowance (HRA) of more than Rs 50,000 per month to deduct tax at source at the rate of 5 per cent. The TDS will have to be deducted on the last month of the year in which rent is paid or the last month of tenancy. In case the landlord (payee) does not have a Permanent Account Number (PAN), the tax deduction shall not exceed the amount of rent payable for the last month of the previous year, or the last month of the tenancy.

Fingerprint, face scan, or password: what's the best way to unlock your Galaxy S8?

Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 is hitting stores this week and it’s bringing a lot features, design, and screen along with it. The S8 (and its larger sibling, the S8 Plus) is one of the best phones ever made and the best phone you can buy right now. I suggest you read my full review for more info on them.

But if you’ve already ordered or bought an S8, you might be wondering what the best way to unlock it is. Because unlike Samsung’s prior phones, the S8 doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner on the front. Instead, it’s on the back of the phone, near the camera. This can present issues with comfort (it’s hard to reach) and practicality (you’re very likely to put your finger all over the camera lens when trying to use it).

So Samsung has introduced a total of five ways to unlock the S8 to make up for the poor fingerprint scanner placement. Which one’s the best? Let’s break it down.

PIN Code / Password

As with every other smartphone, you can use a four-digit PIN code or alphanumeric password to unlock the S8. These are the most secure methods to use, but they are also the most inconvenient and clumsy. When you unlock your phone hundreds of times a day, it gets very tiresome to type in a PIN or worse, a password, every time.

Pattern

The S8 also supports the standard Android pattern unlock method, whereby you trace a particular line you set through a grid of nine dots. This is the way most Android owners unlock their phones, as it’s more convenient than a PIN code or password. It is slightly less secure than those options, but still considered one of the more secure methods to protect the information on your device.

Fingerprint

As mentioned, the S8 does have a fingerprint scanner and you can use this to secure and unlock your device. Unlike other devices, such as the Google Pixel that put the scanner in the middle of the phone where your index finger naturally rests when holding the device, the S8’s scanner is high up on the back of the device and not in the middle. That can make it very hard to reach, especially with the larger S8 Plus, and it can be more difficult for left-handed people that have to move their index fingers awkwardly to cover it.

To make matters worse, the fingerprint scanner is right next to the camera, and “feels” very similarly. So if you’re moving your finger around trying to locate the scanner by touch, it’s very easy to smear the camera lens with fingerprints and oils, which is not particularly pleasant. (Why is it there, you may ask? Samsung says it’s because the location of the battery inside the phone prevented it from being placed lower down.)

All of that said, the fingerprint scanner is a secure method, and the actual scanner on the S8 is very fast. My colleague Walt Mossberg had trouble getting it to register his digits, but I’ve had no issues with it waking and unlocking the phone with my fingers, provided I can actually reach it. I’ve adjusted a bit after some time with the phone, and find myself using the fingerprint scanner a bit more than when I had first picked up the S8. But it’s still annoying and something I have to think about doing, instead of it just happening naturally when I pick up the phone.

Iris

To make up for the S8’s bad fingerprint scanner placement, Samsung has included an iris scanning method, which uses special sensors on the front of the phone to identify you and unlock the device. Iris scanning is considered one of the most secure biometric methods we have available, and you can use it for everything from unlocking the device to authenticating purchases with Samsung Pay.

But iris does have its downsides: though it works in low light, it can have a lot of trouble recognizing my eyes in sunlight, and I have to hold the phone up and awkwardly close to my face. It also can have trouble with glasses and takes a second or two longer to authenticate compared to the fingerprint scanner. My colleague Vlad Savov found this to be the easiest way to unlock the S8 Plus in his time with the device, but again, Walt had trouble with it seeing his eyes.

Face

The newest means of unlocking the S8 is Samsung’s new Face unlock feature (not to be confused with the face unlocking feature included in Android since 2011). This method uses the front-facing camera to identify you and unlock the device. It’s designed to be the most convenient way to unlock the phone, but it is less secure than any other method and cannot be used to authenticate Samsung Pay purchases.

In our tests, the Face unlock method was the slowest and least reliable way to unlock the S8. Despite promising to work at various angles and from comfortable distances, this method refused to work the vast majority of the time. It would not see my face in good light or poor light, and when it did work, it would take several seconds of awkwardly staring at the phone before it would unlock.

To make matters worse, some have been able to trick the Face unlock feature with a picture, proving its lack of security. I was not able to replicate this, for, as I said, it wouldn’t unlock with my real face anyways.

So of all these options, which is the best? I’ve settled on a combination using pattern, fingerprint, and iris methods, all of which can be enabled at the same time. I find myself most often using the fingerprint scanner, which both wakes and unlocks in one motion. But if I can’t reach it, the iris or pattern are the fallbacks I use.

Either way, it shouldn’t be this difficult to figure out a simple task such as unlocking your phone and we hope that Samsung uses a better design for its next device.
